Captain Jacks 701 Trail & Bear Creek Trail
Where is It:
Off of FSR379 North of Gold Camp Rd, West of Colorado Springs, CO
GPS Coordinates Start off of FSR 379:
38.763136, -104.961855
+38° 45' 47.29", -104° 57' 42.68"
How Challenging:
This is an 8
My Take:
This is a single track and can be pretty challenging. This direction will take you in a downward direction, which I would say would be the easier way to go. Especially with bigger bikes like the Honda 650R. You will come to a few forks, we ended up taking Bear Creek Trail.
There are large rocks, very narrow trails, light water crossings, and steep switch backs.
Captain Jacks Trail System Sign:
The start of 701:
This was where we started to follow Bear Creek Trail:
A mine in the middle of nowhere:
We came out to a wide road which we followed down, not sure if this was High Line Rd, but I think it was. We then came to a gate. These are looking back at the gate after we got around:
Not wanting to back track it was either make our way around the left side:
Or the Right side:
Seeing as there was two of us, we lifted the bikes over that cut down section of the gate. There was no signs saying not to and at this point it was getting late and we wanted to go home.
